Dublin surgery round 2 {2014}

This poor poor doggie. Dublin had such a rough time with his past surgery. He had several fatty tumors removed from his body (4 to be exact). The vet thought he was going to do fantastic with his recovery... but unfortunately that really was not the case. They sent Dubs home early with us because he was having difficulties with anxiety after coming out of the anesthesia, and they thought if he was home with us, he would be better. He just kept getting worse... so they told us to give him Benedryl to help him sleep... well that made it 10x worse! Turns out poor guy was having a reaction to the pain meds and now the Benedryl as well. Some dogs have anxiety attacks with these meds, instead of getting sleepy. It was the most horrible night ever with poor Dublin. He was either laying on the floor panting uncontrollably, or pacing around the house. We were so scared he was going to hurt himself while he was pacing. The reaction lasted about 24-36 hours in all, but got tremendously better after the Benedryl wore off. We also had many difficulties with his wounds leaking, and even one of them opening back up on his belly. It's hard to keep bandages on such a big dog! Haha! We spend a ton of time laying (and sleeping each night) on the floor with him for about a week. We have decided that this is officially the last surgery for Dublin. He is just going to have to deal with the cysts from now on. Poor guy is getting too old!  Oh, and I almost forgot to mention how spoiled he got during this time period.  He refused to eat so they had us make him rice and boiled chicken.  Well... someone got a little used to eating this way, and started refusing his dog food!  That is, until Alyssa hand fed him his meals.  Yikes, talk about milking it Dubs!
