And so it begins...

I knew this was going to happen at some point in time since all he does is climb, but I didn't think it would happen today!! Yes, that is right, Will decided to pick this afternoon at nap time to climb out of his crib for the first time. I was sitting on the couch enjoying my lunch... a lunch I didn't have to share with my 2.5 foot sidekick... and I heard a very loud thump upstairs and then nothing. Fearing the worst, I ran up the stairs as fast as I could thinking I was going to find Will laying on the ground hurt, but instead I found him standing in the middle of his room with one sock on, and one sock off looking terrified and not having a clue what to do next. When he saw me he gave me "the lip" and I quickly picked him up and acted concerned and cuddled him like he was hurt since I think the whole jumping out of the crib scared the crap out of him, and I'm hoping by downplaying the whole thing it will encourage him not to do it again. I am soooo hoping that that fall scared him instead of gave him ideas of being able to escape again. I am not at all ready for a toddler bed, or ready to clear out his room of anything he could get in to if he escaped the crib. Night time tonight went smoothly and there were no escapes, so I am hoping that this was just an isolated incident. Yes, I know, it's wishful thinking :)

** On a totally separate note.... when I undressed Will for his bath tonight, I sent him into the bathroom with Aaron and yelled for him to put him on the toilet before he put him in the tub. He didn't hear me though so Will didn't get put on the toilet and peed on the floor instead.... but before Will peed on the floor he tried to get Aaron's attention and was pointing to the potty. He is starting to learn that he needs to pee in the potty!!! **

Your boy is growing up in all sorts of ways! :) Some good (pottytraining), some not so good (acrobatics out of the cribs). Ahh, the things I have to look forward too. :)
