15 months

My little man is 15 months old today. I know I say this every time, but where in the world has the time gone?? It makes me sad that he's getting so big and my baby is turning into a toddler more and more every day. There are no more pages left in his baby book since it stopped at his 1st birthday, but I've decided that I need to at least write every 3 months on here just so I can keep track of all the wonderful things he is doing and learning.

According to the scale in our bathroom, my little guy still only weighs 20 lbs. and I don't think he's grown that much in height either. We have an appointment next week that will yield some final results on weight and height, but for now, I can tell you he's still a little peanut that is wearing 12-18 month shirts, and 3-6 or 6-12 shorts. His weight is not a very big change from his 1 year visit, but it's not surprising given all he does all day is run and jump and play. There is no sitting still for this little guy. He has no interest what so ever in a tv except to sometimes stop and dance to a song on Veggitales if I have it on in the background. He loves to read, oh my how he loves to read!! That child would read for hours a day if someone would sit with him. His favorite person to read with right now is Daddy, and he brings book after book to him while they hang out on the doggie bed and Aaron goes over his animal sounds with him. If I read him his animal books, he won't do the animal sounds for me... he reserves the sounds for his Daddy for some reason. That's ok though, he's working on his body parts with his Mama. We go down to the swings each day and we sing and play and we name our body parts as we point to them. He knows his head, hair, nose, ears, eyes, mouth, teeth, belly, feet, toes, hands, and we're now working on knees and elbows.

He's been walking for a little over 5 months now, and has progressed to full out running, and now some crazy climbing. He loves climbing on the windowsills and knocking on the windows, and of course the latest thing, crawling on the kitchen table. He is very into tumbling also and is so very close to doing a forward roll all by himself... I'm sure we'll be working on those more at gym class. He is completely fearless right now, and when we're at the pool he will try to run while in the kiddy pool and then fall face first in the water and laugh. He also enjoys opening the gate from the kiddy pool and running full force towards the big kid pool. I am completely convinced that he would belly flop right on in there if given the opportunity to do so. This kid's motor skills are crazy good right now, he can throw and kick a ball better than any three year old I know, and enjoys playing golf and soccer, and whatever other games his Daddy has in store for him in the evenings after he gets home from work.

He understands the word no, and will shake his head yes and no for things, but will give you a cute little grin when told no and sometimes continue the bad behavior. He really doesn't have too many tantrums yet. He definitely does have strong opinions about things, and when he does have a tantrum it's usually when he's tired and they are always short lived. I'm thankful he can be easily distracted still!! At the end of a tantrum, he'll sometimes walk over and pick up a toy and throw it then look at you as if to say... "alright Mama, I'm going to stop now, but I just wanted to let you know that I'm still upset about it." It's so hard for me not to laugh when he does stuff like that because it's so freakin cute... but I contain myself for the sake of future discipline. Despite the random tantrum, Will does an amazingly good job of sharing his toys. He really doesn't care if people play with his toys, or even when kids take things out of his hands... he just kind of moves on to something else like it's no big deal. We definitely got lucky on that end of things!! And speaking of sharing, Will has a wonderful group of little kids he hangs out with on a regular basis. I love that we not only see his friends (and my friends) at gym class on Thursdays, but that we get to see them every Tuesday, and a few of them on Wednesdays as well. I can tell that he enjoys being with other kids now and even is starting to play with other kids instead of just along side them.

He loves being the center of attention and will dance and sing and make noise and giggle until people look at him or talk to him. He loves to giggle at people in the grocery store and flash that crazy adorable smile at them so they come up and chat with him. He really has no fear of strangers, and although some would find that a bad thing... I totally love it!! He is a well rounded sociable child and the fact that I can tell him bye bye and have him wave to me as I walk out the door and not scream and cry is so refreshing to me as a Mommy. It makes me feel like I'm doing my job and that he knows that even though Mommy isn't here right now, she loves me and is coming back in awhile and I'm cool hanging out without her.

Will has also started to talk more and more over these last few months. He now says Dada, Mama (only sometimes), hey, vroom vroom, hi, this, that, doggie, ride, hat... and his first phrase... what's that? I know I'm forgetting some words... but he's learning them so quick it's hard to keep up! He knows a lot of animal sounds also. He knows cow, monkey, horse, frog, dog, and cat, and Daddy is currently working on more! He is also understanding much more and will go get things and do things that I ask him to do, which is making it easier to get out the door in the mornings, or just generally get things done around the house.

He loves to eat despite his very small size, and will literally try anything given to him. He loves fresh fruit.... loves loves fresh fruit, and he likes cheeses, and does a pretty good job of eating whatever it is I make for dinner. We are also so very excited that we can say he's officially off of all his reflux medication. It was a very long road with his reflux, and we couldn't be more thankful that it is finally over!! Now let's hope his future brother or sister isn't a refluxer like he was.... I don't think our carpet could handle it!!

Wow, I didn't realize how much stuff he was doing until I wrote it all out on here. My little guy is a busy busy boy... and I'm really excited that I get to spend my days hanging out with him and watching him learn and grow each and every day. He is such a fun little guy, and I don't think I would trade my job as Mommy for any other job in the world. Who knows what my 18 month post will have in store...

For now I will leave you with a video of Will watching the intro to VeggiTales... I swear it just couldn't be funnier!
