You are watching Dublin and Daddy playing in the snow outside... this is one of the very first times you pulled to standing on your own.
Oh little one, Mommy is behind once again :) These months seem to just fly by and you just keep getting bigger and bigger and keep learning so many new things each and every day. You did not have a 7 month appointment, but during a sick check they weighed you and you weighed 15 lbs, 2 oz.! You little peanut!! You are wearing 6-12 month clothes, and we think you'll probably be in those until at least the end of March. Everyone that sees you comments on how petite and cute you are!
This, once again, was another huge month for you! We started the month off with your very first trip to the pool! You love your bath so much that we assumed that you would love the pool just as much... boy were we wrong! The indoor pool at the YMCA is a balmy 85 degrees... But it still wasn't warm enough for your taste... you scrunched up your little face and let out a huge scream when your feet touched that water. You cry so infrequently that it is so cute when you do and sometimes we let you cry a couple of seconds extra just to listen to it... I know, we are mean :)
Feb. 1st marked some very important milestones for you! You slept for 12 hours straight that night... something you had never done before. You typically sleep from 7 pm till between 3 and 5 am. You eat 4 oz. then go back to sleep until 7 or so. Now, I really can't complain about your sleeping habits, because they are pretty fantastic... but 12 hours... wow little girl!! You also cut your very first tooth on the 1st!! Your bottom middle tooth on the right came through... I was so excited when I stuck my finger in your mouth and discovered a little point sticking up!! This happened to be an unseasonably warm day so the 1st was also your very first ride in a swing! You were a little nervous and not very sure at first... your little body shook as I pushed you for the first time... this shouldn't have surprised me seeing as how you hated your infant swing with a passion :) Once you got started you realized that you loved it and you giggled and laughed each time you came close to my face. Will was very upset that day when we picked him up from school because he wanted to be the one to take you to the park for the first time. He just loves you so much Alyssa!!
You continue to love to play alone... going between rooms exploring all your toys, and any other random things you can get a hold of! You also still love crawling underneath the dog while he eats his food each morning. I've started having to just hold you or put you in your highchair because you manage to get underneath of him in about 2.3 seconds. You love when Will dances or sings for you and you sit there and giggle and smile at him. You give the best smiles when Daddy comes home from work. He walks through the door, and your little face lights up! You do the same thing when we pick Will up from preschool. It's so sweet, each day he comes straight to you to say hi... you eat up attention from him!
You have also started responding to Alyssa and Alyssa Jean. We were getting a little worried because last month you were only responding to Moopers. So this month we really tried to call you by your real name... and now you respond to Moopers and Alyssa! It's so sweet... you'll be playing and I'll call your name and you turn around and give this sweet little grin. You have also started saying Mama! Sometimes when you are upset you will crawl over to me while you angrily repeat Mama Mama over and over again. I'm not sure if you understand that Mama is me... but I'll still take it!!
We were hoping that you would escape sickness this month like you did the previous month, but no such luck :( You were actually a very sick girl for about 2.5 weeks. It started out as a cough and a runny nose... and then the cough got worse and the congestion got worse and everything turned into an ear infection. You kept spiking fevers on and off and were just miserable. Thankfully we got you an antibiotic and you got better (and much happier) pretty quickly. I hate seeing you so sick... although the extra snuggles were pretty nice :)
I almost forgot! You also pulled to standing for the first time this month! You are extremely strong just like your brother and we anticipate that you will be following in his footsteps in the athletic ability department. You definitely got that gene from your Daddy!!
Sweet baby girl, we are so happy we get to be your parents. Please slow down with all this growing and all these milestones! You are our last little baby and we want to savor and enjoy every second of your babyhood.
