Alyssa meets the Great Grandparents!

The other day we took a trip up to PA for the first time in almost a year!  I was on restricted travel for the duration of my pregnancy with Alyssa, so I hadn't been able to make the trip up since last October.  Will on the other hand, has thankfully been up with Mom and Chris in the meantime.  Now that Alyssa is here, we can go visit again!  Both Will and Alyssa had a good car ride up.... Alyssa sleeping, and Will riding with Pappy and Uncle Chris and watching movies.  We were able to visit with Mom's side of the family... but were only able to see Dad's side briefly because Pappy had an impromptu visit to the ER that afternoon.  We did get a chance to stop at the ER and bring Alyssa back real quick to their room so Grandma could hold her for a few minutes and Pappy could see her also.  Hopefully next time we'll actually get to hang out at the house for a bit with them so they can visit with her more and we can get some pictures with everyone :)

Nana was having a rough day when we got to the nursing home. The last time I saw her she was talkative and knew who we all were, and was excited to see Will.  This time, she was very very confused.  She didn't know any of us... which was very hard to deal with.  And was rambling about things we had no clue about, and was also very paranoid that someone had poisoned her food and was taking her possessions and replacing them with new things. She hadn't eaten in almost three days when we saw her.  Will was very sweet and took several bites of her food in order to try and coax her to try some too.  But, unfortunately it didn't work... he even pulled out all the stops and shared his M&M's with her... but she didn't want those either.

It was really sad seeing Nana like that... but I'm so happy we went up and got to take some generation pictures, and also some pictures of Nana with Alyssa for the first time.  It was really hard knowing that she had no idea who the baby was that she was holding.  I loved seeing her face when she met Will for the first time, and was hoping to have the same with Alyssa.

No matter how hard watching my Nana deteriorate and deal with dementia is, I am so happy and thankful that I still have my Nana in my life.  I have 30 years of wonderful memories with her and I'm happy I have those memories and funny stories to share with my kids through the years.

Here are a few of the pictures we captured during our brief visit in PA...
