Earlier this summer Will and I sent away for his caterpillars and ladybug larvae. I didn't have high hopes for these things, because well, they were sent through the mail and I really wasn't sure they would survive. But those little guys proved me wrong! We watched over several weeks time as our caterpillars grew, spun their chrysallis's and then emerged as butterflies. And we watched the ladybugs do something very much the same! Will was so excited each morning to check on them and see what they were up too and if they had changed form yet. It was almost a little sad letting all of them go outside, but we knew we had too. One of the butterflies didn't fly away right away, but instead flew right next to my leg and just sat for about 5 minutes. One of the ladybugs did the same for Will. It flew right on his hand and started crawling around... he was thrilled! What a wonderful experience we had doing this together! I'm kind of looking forward to doing it again next year :) I need to give a big shout out to my friend April's husband for recovering all these pictures for me. My retarded self formatted my memory card before uploading these to my computer and I thought I'd lost them all... but he was able to recover them for me!! So thankful to have these memories back :)
