Will has been taking swimming lessons off and on now for about 2 years. He's come a long long way from that cute little baby who had a death grip on me the entire time we were in the pool. Now he's thrilled when he sees water and wants to get right in and swim by himself... he is very cautious about the whole getting in part... we hold hands, or I hold him, then he's ready to go. Lately I've been taking various floats off of him and figuring out how little assistance he needs in order to still swim by himself in the water. Last week I took off everything... two arm wings and his front float and left just his #3 back bubble on... and he swam!!! This coming week (if it doesn't snow), I'll be putting just his #3 back and his front on him for the lessons so that he can practice his reaching and pulling more. It's amazing to me that I might have a 3 year old that can swim completely on his own by the summer!! Less worry for Mommy around pools this coming year hopefully!
I am a former Elementary school teacher turned stay at home mom. I have an almost 8 year old son and 3 year old daughter who somehow manage to keep me busier than my class of 25 third graders ever did. I love reading, writing, and after purchasing my first Nikon SLR three years ago... have fallen in love with photography and now have a small photography business called Lollihop Photography. This blog is mainly about my little ones... but I occasionally get a word in here and there.
