Big boy bed!

Wednesday morning Will and I went to Toys r'us to buy his big boy Cars bed! He was thrilled when we got it and couldn't wait till Aaron got home to put it together. When Aaron got home, he put the bed together and we also rearranged the furniture (and took some furniture out) in his room. He was beside himself with excitement when everything was complete... he even invited Dublin into bed with him for a snuggle!

We left his crib together and just put his bed beside it in case he didn't fell like sleeping in the bed and felt more comfortable in the crib. And I'm very glad we did because he has ended up sleeping in it the last two nights instead of the bed. He loves to cuddle, read and sing in the bed. He even wants me to tuck him in there at night, but when it comes to sleeping in it, he wants nothing to do with it, he wants his crib. He tried so hard the first night, I think he tried for about 1.5 hours before we went in and told him he could choose between the crib or the bed... he chose the crib and was asleep in a few minutes. I don't think he's ready to let go of his crib yet... so until he is, we'll just keep the bed and the crib in the room until he's ready to make the switch on his own. He is like his Mama and isn't a big fan of change :)

Even though he doesn't want to sleep in the new bed and is a little leery of the new items in the room, I think he's loving the new situation! We are no longer going in his room and forcing him to stay in the crib to sleep, we've been letting him play with his toys in the room and do his own thing until he's ready to fall asleep. I have a feeling naps are going to be ify from now on, but he did have quiet time yesterday for almost 2 hours and did awesome just playing with his toys and reading books to himself. I think he's still confused about the whole change, but we're hoping he'll continue to do good with the new freedom we've given him. So far he hasn't climbed anything or destroyed anything and we're hoping that continues! I'm sure this transition will take a bit for him, but I can't wait to see him fall asleep for the first time in his new big boy bed :)

Dublin was very upset with the addition of the bed... he resists change, just like Will and I

Putting together the bed

Will was thrilled when it was complete!!

Dublin even tested it out... he might be a little big to sleep in it with Will

Yahoo!! It looks like the big boy bed is a big hit! McKenzie's first reaction was exactly like Wills. It just takes some time and patience.

Thanks Spring! I hope he adjusts well to it... he did nap in it yesterday! But then slept in the crib for night time :( I do have to say though, I'm really impressed with him not playing a lot in his room and actually going to sleep when he's supposed too!
