This evening around 7:30 as we were getting Will out of the bath tub, we heard some sirens outside. Aaron went to check it out, and discovered that it was in fact Santa coming around the neighborhood on a fire engine!! Now last year I sooo did not appreciate this holiday gesture our small town does (it woke him up last year)... but this year with a toddler that can stay up later and put himself to sleep very easily, I was very excited! Will was so very excited to see Santa (or anta as he calls him), so I ran downstairs with him and opened the front door with him in his towel so he could wave as they went by our house. He was beside himself with excitement and we told him that he'd be around again, but he had to get dressed first so that he could go outside and wait on the sidewalk for him. He got dressed very quickly and put his hat and jacket on and waited by the front door for the sirens all the while yelling anta anta!! We went outside as they came around again and he got to wave and say hello to Santa as they drove by with all their sirens blaring. I couldn't believe he wasn't scared with all the noise, flashing lights, and huge fire engine!! As I was reading him his night night stories a little later on, he kept asking for anta... he seemed to be fine with my response that Santa went back to the North pole to go night night. I can't even begin to put into words how much more exciting Christmas is this year with a toddler!!
