I'm not ready for this potty training thing. I don't like the extra time that it takes to have Will sit on the potty multiple times a day... and I don't like sitting on the floor next to him so that I can read him the book he has chosen to read while on the potty... and I really really hate having to take off all the layers of clothing the child has on each time he needs to sit on the potty. I had visions of potty training in the summer time, when all there would be were shorts and t-shirts and the occasional naked baby running around the house ready to sit on the potty at a moments notice. But alas, the child loves his potty, and also seems to be getting the whole "this is where your pee pee goes" idea. He very willingly sits on it and already knows that that is where he is supposed to pee. If I put him on and he hasn't gone in a couple of minutes I ask him if he's done, and he'll get up if he doesn't have to go, but stays on if he thinks he needs to go. He's woken up from naps dry and used the potty right away... and is peeing on the potty pretty much once a day at this point. I know I shouldn't be complaining about this whole potty training going well thing... but I'm seriously not ready for this yet! I really don't mind diapers... they're easy and quick to change and I don't have to worry about when or where he needs to use the bathroom. So with all that said, I think that we're going to take this potty training thing very very slowly with Will... he's very interested and has had success so far... but I think I'm going to hold out for the serious potty training till the spring and summer... it gives me a headache just thinking about trying to remove 3 layers of clothing in a public restroom if he has to pee while we're out... ugh!!
** I just reread this post and I sound so negative!! I really am truly happy that Will is doing so well... I mean seriously, it's nice to have something be easy with him!! I'm just not excited about all the extra effort potty training in the winter time will bring :) **

You crack me up Mindy!! But seriously, this whole potty thing might have to be tabled until there is warmer weather...I hate sitting on the tile floor in the bathroom... it's cold!!
Lucky for me I don't have a boy genius like you do!!! So I'm sure Evan won't be potty trained for another year or so.

You weren't negative at all in your post...just frustrated and as Moms we can be frustrated. Who thought Will would have picked up the whole potty thing so quickly??? While a really good thing, I totally understand the fear of peeing in public with several layers so I'm definitely taking things slowly til I can put Piper in dresses.
